Department/Institute

The Institute of Labour Law and Social Security Law was established in 1970 as a department of the Faculty of Economics. Since the middle of the 1980ies the Institute has been part of the Faculty of Law. The first Head of Institute was o.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Walter Schwarz, followed by o.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Franz Marhold in 1996. Since 2012 the Chair has been hold by Univ.-Prof. MMag. DDr. Günther Löschnigg.

The Institute is a large and diverse research environment that is enhanced by collaborations with collegues in other Austrian and European Universities and institutions such as the Chambers of Labour, Chambers of Commerce and the Trade Unions.
