On 25 September 2025, the University of Graz hosted a workshop on current issues in European and national labour and social security law, with contributions from experts from Hungary, Slovenia, and Austria. Chaired by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gert-Peter Reissner, the event explored the intersections of labour law, migration, and social security.
Speakers addressed topics such as shifting narratives of labour and migration in Eastern Europe (Dr. Bernadett Solymosi-Szekeres, Prof. Dr. Nóra Jakab; University of Miskolc), the relationship between migration and social insurance (Dr. Gábor Mélypataki, Dr. Hilda Tóth; University of Miskolc), the impact of migration on labour law litigation (Dr. Adrienn Nagy, University of Miskolc), the coordination of unemployment benefits for frontier workers (Dr. Luka Mišič, University of Ljubljana), and legal as well as practical approaches to work-life balance (Dr. Verena Vinzenz, University of Graz).
The workshop provided valuable comparative perspectives and underlined the importance of adapting labour and social security law to today’s changing world of work.
